Swirrl Local Open Data Event – More Speakers Announced and Early Bird Tickets released!

Local Open Data: Reaping the Benefits is getting closer and we’re delighted to announce the first release of tickets – get them while they’re hot! We’re also really pleased to announce more great speakers who’ll be sharing their experience and successes of working with Open Data on the day.

Jamie Whyte leads the Intelligence and Innovation Lab at Trafford Council and is active in the Manchester open data community.

Tom Smith is Director of OCSI a spin-out from Oxford University which works with public and community organisations to do better with data. With a background in theoretical physics and artificial intelligence, Tom has been using government data to improve services for more than two decades, and is leading the update of the national Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) dataset. Other projects include Local Insight, an open data mapping and reporting tool for local authorities and social impact tools for housing associations. He is the data geek on the Guardian’s Public Leaders Board, chairs the Environment Agency Data Advisory Group, and has been a member of the Cabinet Office Open Data User Group.

Bob Bailey works for Thomson Reuters as Chief Information Architect. He recently worked collaboratively with the Open Data Institute on Creating Value with Identifiers in an Open Data world.
