Local Open Data Event: First speakers announced

On 21st April 2015, we’ll be hosting Local Open Data: Reaping the Benefits – a one day event at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry. It’s aim is to bring together people working with, or interested in, data at a local level and we’re pleased to announce the first of our speakers. (Register your interest).

Steve Peters works in the Strategic Statistics Division at the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG). He is leading work there to release DCLG’s datasets in fully open, re-usable formats, via standards-based APIs. Take a look at their Open Data Communities site.

Jemma Insall is Head of Strategy & Local Engagement in the Government Innovation Group at the Cabinet Office.

Mark Braggins is the lead on the Hampshire Hub open data initiative on behalf of 20+ organisations in and around Hampshire. He works on Research and Intelligence for Hampshire County Council.

And Ian Watt is Board Trustee at CodeThe City, a civic hacking initiative in Aberdeen. He works with Open Data for the Scottish Government and is e-Government manager for Aberdeen City Council.

We’ll be announcing more speakers soon. In the meantime, you can register your interest in the event here and we’ll email you when the first batch of tickets are released. Can’t decide if it’s for you? Read more about the event.
