Open Data was the topic for the June DGs Forum.

At the forum, Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford discussed the value and benefits of open data and the practical implementation steps underway to unlock the economic and innovative potential from making government data available.

Following Mike’s presentation, there was a showcase from the GovHack teams who won in 2014. They demonstrated their projects and outlined the real benefits that arose from government opening its data.

The GovHack presentations were from BusHack, Crime & Space and Sarbii, who discussed:

  • The GovHack event from their perspectives
  • Examples of the value of open data
  • Their projects, including a demonstration
  • Some of the challenges they faced.
